7月15日、九州大学と The University of Queensland の交換留学プログラムで来日中の Tony Lu さんが、私たちの研究室を訪問してくれました。
今回の訪問が特に印象深かったのは、Tony さんが Liming Lu 教授（CSIRO 主任研究員）**のご子息であるという点です。Lu 教授とは、製鉄資源に関する研究を通じて 20年以上にわたり交流と共同研究を続けてきた、大切な研究仲間です。
研究内容や研究室の取り組みについての意見交換に加え、研究者としての歩みや国際的な研究ネットワークの広がりについても話すことができ、冶金という学問が世代を超えて国境を越えたつながりを生み出すことを、あらためて実感する時間となりました。
Tony さんの日本での滞在が、研究や進路を考えるうえで実り多い経験となることを願っています。
本研究室に興味のある学生の皆さんにとっても、国際交流や共同研究が日常の中にある研究環境を感じてもらえる出来事でした。
Metallurgical Research Across Generations — A Visit from the University of Queensland
On July 15, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Tony Lu, who is currently visiting Japan through the exchange program between Kyushu University and The University of Queensland, to our laboratory.
This visit was particularly meaningful to us because Tony is the son of Liming Lu, a Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO. Prof. Lu and I have shared more than 20 years of academic exchange and collaboration in the field of ironmaking resources, making this encounter especially memorable.
Beyond discussing our current research activities and laboratory environment, we also exchanged thoughts on academic careers and the development of international research networks. It was a vivid reminder that metallurgy is a discipline that naturally fosters global connections across generations.
We sincerely hope that Tony’s stay in Japan will be a rewarding and inspiring experience for his future studies.
For students interested in joining our laboratory, this visit also reflects an important aspect of our research environment: international collaboration and personal connections are an integral part of everyday research life.
