中国は長沙で開催されたASIA STEEL 2024 (3-6 September 2024) に参加してきました。

私は光栄なことに「Effect of hydrogen-reduced microstructure on softening behavior of iron ore agglomerates under high temperature loading conditions」とのタイトルでキーノートレクチャーをさせてもらいました。
自分の発表も含めた「Ironmaking」のセッションはもちろん、ジョイント開催された「International Symposium on Hydrogen Metallurgy」では、中国・インド・韓国・日本のアジアの国々のみならず、EUやアメリカ、ブラジルなどにおける製鉄業のCO2削減に向けた、プロセス水素化の取り組みとその課題が議論され、非常に有益な会議でした。
特に、H-DRIの製造プロセスを下流に受け渡す電気精錬炉の技術開発はホットなトピックであると感じており、特に銑滓分離や浸炭反応で使用することが必須となるカーボン利用の高効率化が今後の課題だと思いました。
勿論今回の会議でも、古くからの友人との再会や、新しいコネクションの構築も楽しむことができました。
次の国際会議への参加のチャンスはECIC – EUROPEAN COKE AND IRONMAKING CONGRESSです。そこで皆さんにお会いして実りのあるディスカッションと良いコネクション構築ができることを期待しています。
I attended ASIA STEEL 2024 (3-6 September 2024) held in Changsha, China.
I was honored to give a keynote lecture titled “Effect of hydrogen-reduced microstructure on softening behavior of iron ore agglomerates under high temperature loading conditions”.
The “Ironmaking” session, which included my presentation, as well as the jointly held “International Symposium on Hydrogen Metallurgy” discussed the efforts and challenges of process hydrogenization to reduce CO2 emissions in the steel industry not only in Asian countries such as China, India, Korea, and Japan, but also in the EU, the United States, Brazil, and other countries, making it a very informative conference.
In particular, I felt that the technological development of electric smelting furnaces, which transfer the H-DRI manufacturing process downstream, was a hot topic, and I thought that the future challenge was to improve the efficiency of carbon utilization, which is essential for use in pig slag separation and carburization reactions.
Of course, I was also able to enjoy reuniting with old friends and building new connections at this conference.
The next chance to participate in an international conference is ECIC – EUROPEAN COKE AND IRONMAKING CONGRESS. I hope to meet you there, have fruitful discussions and make good connections.
