2025年10月31日、九州大学に
Farshid Pahlevani 准教授（UNSW Sydney・SMaRT**）**をお迎えしました。
当日は、大野研究室での研究ディスカッションに加え、進行中プロジェクトの紹介、
さらに 齊藤先生の研究室（高温融体物性）を含むラボツアーを実施しました。
実験案内を担当してくれた博士課程学生の皆さんにも感謝します。
今回の訪問は、私個人にとっても特別な意味を持つものでした。
2018年のシドニーでの出会いをきっかけに、**東北大学**で博士号を取得した“同門”としてのご縁が、今回あらためて研究交流として結実しました。
脱炭素・持続可能な製鉄という共通課題のもと、
日本とオーストラリアの研究者が知見を持ち寄ることで、新たな研究の可能性が広がります。
学生の皆さんへ
研究室での日常的な議論やラボツアーが、そのまま国際共同研究につながる――
これが大学で研究する醍醐味です。

Deepening Japan–Australia Collaboration in Sustainable Ironmaking Research
On October 31, 2025, we welcomed Farshid Pahlevani, Associate Professor at UNSW Sydney (SMaRT), to Kyushu University.
The visit included in-depth discussions at the Ohno Laboratory, an introduction to our ongoing research projects, and a laboratory tour covering both our facilities and those of Noritaka Saito’s group, which specializes in high-temperature melt properties.
We sincerely appreciate the support of the PhD students who guided us through the experiments.
This visit was also personally meaningful. Our connection dates back to our first meeting in Sydney in 2018, and we share an academic background as alumni of Tohoku University.
Reconnecting through research exchange highlighted how academic ties continue to grow over time.
This renewed interaction provides a strong foundation for further Japan–Australia collaboration toward decarbonized and sustainable ironmaking.
For students, it is a reminder that everyday research activities at the university can naturally lead to global collaboration and new scientific opportunities.
