ドイツ・フライベルク滞在中、Prof. Dr.-Ing. Olena Volkova 先生のお計らいで、かつての銀鉱山「Reiche Zeche（ライヒェ・ツェッヒェ）」を見学させていただきました。
TU Bergakademie Freiberg が研究・教育施設として運営しているこの鉱山では、地下150mまで降り、3時間以上かけて複雑な坑道を探索。細く狭い中世の坑道から、現代の地下採掘技術まで、歴史と最先端研究が融合する貴重な現場です。
完全な暗闇を体験できる瞬間は、かつての鉱夫たちが直面した過酷な労働環境を五感で感じさせてくれました。
これまで露天掘りの鉄鉱石鉱山しか訪れたことがなかった私にとって、今回が初めての地下鉱山体験。まさに圧倒的な「学びの場」でした。

Thanks to the kind arrangement by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Olena Volkova, I had the opportunity to visit Reiche Zeche, the historic silver mine in Freiberg now operated by TU Bergakademie Freiberg as a research and teaching facility.
We descended 150 meters underground and explored the complex tunnel system for over 3 hours. From narrow medieval shafts to state-of-the-art mining technologies, the tour offered an inspiring blend of history and current research.
One unforgettable moment was experiencing total darkness—a powerful reminder of the harsh conditions miners faced centuries ago.
Having only visited open-pit iron ore mines before, this was my first deep underground mine experience—and a truly exceptional one.
